wriggly wiggle wiggle

My sister and mother were 'deworming' our garden last week because most of my mom's flowering plants have been devoured mercilessly by grossly fat green catterpillars. The colorful flowers attracted so much butterflies that it also did not stop them to produce a lot of catterpillars. My sister was particularly so fond of them since it looked exactly like Heimlich the catterpillar in the movie "A bug's life" that she decided to get some and made them her pet! She even gave 1 away to her friends since they were so "cute" she says. Gross. But nevertheless, it was interesting to see those fat green worms eating their way to my mom's flowers (despite her frantically telling us to get rid of it as soon as possible). :-D We were so interested on it that last night, we found 1 catterpillar devouring all of the leaves around a bundle of flower buds and by the time I came back from retrieving my camera to get a closer look, the fat worm were already eating its way down to the stems! Gross.. but still interesting.


We were having so much fun looking at how the catterpillar were eating and how green and shiny it was and how it had blue eyes (or one that resembled its eyes) and everything that we took pictures of it(obviously). It was fun seeing the worm in action and we had a grand time studying how it moved, how it ate the flowerbuds (my mom will yell at us if she finds out we let the worm eat those buds), how fat it was, how it slept (I blew on it to make it wake up and to make those blue spots on the head that resembled the eyes show up). We were watching how it was moving its fat legs that acted like suction pumps to reach the end of the buds. It was like studying biology all over again. It was fun and when my mom finally made us come in and out of the drizzle (it was dark and raining), we had to say goodbye and my sister took a large tong and mercilessly and effortlessly conked the worm out of the stem and threw it out to the open field like it was nothing.
